News in Brief: Nickel Eye, Arbouretum, Coathangers, Vetiver

-- Nickel Eye, Strokes bassist Nickolai Fraiture's solo project, has announced tour dates, including a few with the Raveonettes. There is going to be a whole lot of glassy-eyed staring at those shows.

-- The great Baltimore stoner-folk band Arbouretum (friends of mine, I should disclose) are set to release their third album. Song of the Pearl will be out on Thrill Jockey March 10.

-- Another new one due out soon: Scramble, the first full-length from the snarly all-female Atlanta psych-punk four-piece the Coathangers. Suicide Squeeze will release it on April 7.

-- Also on the way: Tight Knit, the fourth effort from well-connected freak-folk veterans Vetiver, due on February 17. Tight Knit will be the band's first album on new label Sub Pop.
