Gang Gang Dance Side Project I.U.D. Has Proper Sex

Last year's great St. Dymphna brought New York's fuzzed-out experimentalists Gang Gang Dance closer to something that could conceivably called pop than they'd ever been before. But at least one member of the band won't be straying from her deafening roots for too long.

GGD frontwoman Lizzi Bougatsos also makes up half of the noised-up, heavy-breathing, supposedly-industrial-but-I-don't-hear-it side project I.U.D., along with Growing's Sadie Laska. The Social Registry will release The Proper Sex, I.U.D.'s debut album, on March 24. And that's good news for all of us who felt that 2009 was really screaming for an eight-minute song called "Monk Hummer".

The Social Registry will also release "Daddy" as a 7" single before the album drops, with a remix from Black Dice's Aaron Warren as the B-side.

Here's The Proper Sex's cover:

Vaguely transgressively sexy!

The Proper Sex tracklist:

01 Daddy
02 Glo Balls
03 Monk Hummer
04 911
05 Mary Unmargaret
06 Girls Just Wanna (Time to Have Sex)
