My Morning Jacket Release iTunes-Only Live EP
Here's something kind of weird: My Morning Jacket, often cited as the best live band in the history of the universe, just recorded a live EP in a recording studio, and it kind of sounds like a new studio EP, with new versions of old songs. You figure it out.
MMJ's iTunes Live From Las Vegas at the Palms EP went up for sale today at (naturally) iTunes. The new collection features new versions of a bunch of songs from past MMJ albums. There's also one new one, "Dear Wife".
This is the latest in a series of iTunes-only releases in which bands use the hyper-expensive studio at the Maloof-owned casino to record live versions of their old songs. Past entries in the series include EPs from Death Cab for Cutie, John Legend, Hinder, and Wolfmother.
MMJ also has a bunch of shows coming up in New Zealand, Australia and Japan, including a bunch with the touring Big Day Out festival (it's summer down there, see) and a couple opening for Big Day Out tourmate Neil Young:iTunes EP:
01 Tonight I Want to Celebrate With You
