News in Brief: The Rosebuds, Amon Tobin, Odd Nosdam, Maria Taylor

-- That other husband-wife indie team, the Rosebuds-- dubbed "Merge's most slept-on act" in the Pitchfork review of their latest LP, Life Like-- hit the road tomorrow in Baltimore. Their six-date East Coast tour will run through the month, check the dates here.

-- It's not just for peace anymore: Two Fingers is a new project from electronic wizard Amon Tobin and a guy named Joe "Doubleclick" Chapman along with underrated UK rapper Sway. (We really hope Joe's nickname is based on the common mouse practice.) The self-titled Two Fingers debut is out April 14 on Paper Bag and, based on their cool-looking website and awesome, grime 2.0-sounding first single "What You Know", available as a digital release today, it might surprise people. In a good way.

-- Anticon beat maker Odd Nosdam is getting his ollie on with his soundtrack to the Element Skateboard flick This Is My Element, due out March 10. The producer took his job seriously, crafting each song to fit the "style and cadence of the Element rider it accompanies." So if you listen to "Root Bark," you're supposed to think Mark Barker, and "Wig Smasher" is a tribute to Tony Tave. This must be the ultimate skate-geek concept album. Someone needs to do this song-per-athlete thing for the original cast of the "American Gladiators". Nitro, what's good?!

-- Michael Stipe will offer guest vocals on Azure Ray member Maria Taylor's third solo album of indie-folk, Ladyluck, due out April 7 on Nettwerk. Two tracks from the CD, "Time Lapse Lifeline" and "Orchids" are on her MySpace now, while "Time Lapse Lifeline" is available as a digital release starting today. Maria fans should also listen for a snippet of "Orchids" on the January 22 episode of "Private Practice"-- maybe she'll make "Grey's Anatomy" with the next LP.
