Thanks to, um, Jack Johnson
Dave Grohl, Eddie Vedder Pay Tribute to Nick Drake

On the surface, Jack Johnson's music sounds like Nick Drake's music. Both singers have quiet voices. There are acoustic guitars.

But get beyond that and there seems to be little connecting the two-- Drake was an introvert who died of an antidepressant overdose at age 26, Johnson is a sufin' Hawaii dude who did the soundtrack to the Curious George movie. We're sure Jack gets bummed when he scuffs his favorite board, but come on.

Nonetheless! Billboard.com reports that Johnson, along with Eddie Vedder, Dave Grohl, and Norah Jones will pay tribute to the late folk singer on an upcoming covers album released on Johnson's label, Brushfire.

The release will also include a DVD featuring the full version of the much-blogged-about video for Drake's "Black Eyed Dog", directed and edited by Heath Ledger, in which the late actor is seen drowning in a bathtub. Hard to believe it's already been a year since Ledger's death.
