American Analog Set/Ola Podrida Group Sign to Barsuk

See that "Take on Me"-style drawing over there to your left? That's Wooden Birds, the new project from American Analog Set main man Andrew Kenny. The brand new group-- which also includes Ola Podrida songwriter David Wingo, singer-guitarist Leslie Sisson, and Lymbyc Systym drummer Michael Bell-- is readying their debut, dubbed Magnolia, for a Spring release on Barsuk in the U.S. and Morr in Europe. They will tour, too. Based on the Wooden Birds MySpace, the new band isn't changing things up especially-- it's more folky and less poppy than AAS, but the end result is still fairly unstartling.

Kenny will make multiple appearances at SXSW, performing with the new band and playing AAS's 1999 album The Golden Band at Insound's 10th anniversary party.
