Blondie Gets Reissued, Plans New LP

Because "Rapture" is the best fucking song ever, man!

Seminal New York New Wave band Blondie's first six studio albums will be reissued on September 11th in Canada and the U.S. The albums-- Blondie, Plastic Letters, Parallel Lines, Eat to the Beat, Autoamerican, and The Hunter-- have all been remastered and will feature liner notes from original producers Richard Gottehrer (who produced the first two) and Mike Chapman (who produced the other four). The reissues will collectively feature 21 bonus tracks, including covers of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" and T.Rex's "Bang a Gong."

The band's early albums gave the world many new wave/karaoke bar classics, including the ever-popular "Heart of Glass" and "The Tide is High," but the band fell apart after The Hunter. Around the same time, guitarist Chris Stein was stricken with a rare genetic disease and chanteuse Debbie Harry spent many of the following years aiding in his recovery. The band re-emerged in 1998 with a new album, No Exit, and is currently recording a follow-up album, tentatively scheduled for release this fall.
