Havalina Truncate Name, Release Limited EP

Three-word bandname just too memorable

According to their official website, recently truncated rock 'n roll singing group Havalina (formerly Havalina Rail Company) have released a hand-numbered, limited edition five-song EP/10" entitled A Bullfighter's Guide to Space and Love on Four Door Recordings. The vinyl version also features the bonus track "Abduction of the Bullfighter," which was apparently written for a Nike commercial. Despite the fact that it featured Tom Waits collaborator Steve Hodges on percussion, the track was rejected. Such is life!

Havalina regards the new recording as a "warm up and work out" for their long-promised full-length album, Space, Love, and Bullfighting, to be released at some point on Tooth and Nail Records. While the collective's previous efforts have branched into back-porch jazz, swing, and Russo-American folk music, the new album consists of nothing but ambient oscilloscope sounds and annoying synthetic salsa beats. Just kidding. Blending their traditional stylings with a touch of homemade hurdy-gurdy, imported Farfisa and Moog organs, and a pinch of taco seasoning, Havalina is selling A Bullfighter's Guide on tour and via mail order at the Four Door website.
