Broken Hand Forces Guided by Voices to Cancel Shows
Surely Bob Pollard knows another drummer
Guided by Voices has been forced to cancel several shows due to drummer Jon
McCann breaking his hand. While information has not been released as to the
cause of the break, the late-60's motorcycle gang, the Cycle Savages, are
primary suspects. The good news, however, is that the band fully intends to
keep its July 21st appointment at Coney Island's Siren Music Festival, as
well as all shows to follow on their current tour. If McCann hasn't fully
recovered by that point, former GBV drummer/Dayton rock legend Jim MacPherson
will perform in his place.
In case you missed the hype, the Siren Music Festival will feature such bands as Enon, Rainer Maria, Quasi, Man or Astro-Man, Superchunk, and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion on the main stage. Did we mention that it's free? Post-Siren Music Festival, GBV will resume their tour at the following locations and dates:
07-23 Cambridge, MA - Middle East (w/Oneida)
07-24 New Haven, CT - Toad's Place (w/Oneida)
07-25 Camden, NJ - Tweeter Center/Y-100 Fest
07-27 Asbury Park, NJ - Stone Pony
07-28 Hoboken, NJ - Maxwell's
