Tenacious D Prepares to Rock You

Would you like hallucinogens with that?

Forget Wilco, Björk, Sigur Rós, and all those other pansy-ass poseurs. There's only one Greatest Band in the World, and therefore, there can only be one Most Anticipated Album Release of the Future. And it can only be Tenacious D's self-titled debut racing towards you like a screaming horde of hell-spawned devil children riding thunder lizards, preparing for the ultimate day of Armageddon: September 25th.

n The album was produced by the Dust Brothers, and will feature guest appearances from a variety of recording artists, including Dave Grohl, Phish's Page McConnell, Warren Fitzgerald from the Vandals, and Steve McDonald from Redd Kross. Song titles include "Fuck Her Gently," "Tribute" (a tribute to the greatest song in the world), and "Lee" (about their greatest fan, who also happens to run their website). A tour is expected to follow the release.

n For those without HBO, Tenacious D is a two-man acoustic folk-death-metal "band" featuring comedians Jack Black (the funny one in High Fidelity) and Kyle Gass. The duo briefly had their own show on the cable network, and made appearances on cult favorite Mr. Show. (Who could forget JB in "The Joke: The Musical"? Those leather pants!) Yes, they're funny. But they will also rock your socks off. Mercilessly.
