Belle & Sebastian Announce American Dates

Entire band struck with skin cancer upon heading outdoors
Following a thirteen-stop UK tour and an appearance at Spain's Benicassim Fest, Scottish pop ensemble Belle & Sebastian will serenade select areas of the Americas. The group, who recently added Bobby Kildea to their ever-expanding roster, are also slated to surface at the Free Jazz Festival 2001 in lovely, treeless Brazil. The venture will be Belle & Sebastian's first outside the U.S. and Europe.

The band is currently whipping up some winsome originals to accompany Todd Solondz's latest cinematic endeavor, Storytelling. The film premiers August 18th at the Edinburgh Film Festival. The soundtrack is expected to be released along with the movie this fall. Also in the works are a fifth full-length record and a new single due in autumn, to include songs performed during their venture to the Americas. Dates:

09-06 Los Angeles, CA - Wiltern Theatre
09-08 San Francisco, CA - Warfield
09-11 Portland, OR - Roseland Theatre
09-13 Vancouver, BC - Croatian Cultural Center
09-14 Seattle, WA - Moore Theatre
10-26 Rio de Janeiro - Museum of Modern Art
