Ultraviolet Makes Me Sick Release Debut CD

SPF 35 works wonders, guys

Italian instrumental trio Ultraviolet Makes Me Sick's first full-length, Soundproof, has finally found a legitimate home: the Australian psychedelic imprint Camera Obscura. Soundproof was originally self-released on CD-R last February, following a self-released EP in early 2000. The Camera Obscura release of the album will include both items for international exposure.

Ultraviolet Makes Me Sick's widescreen angular introspection is often compared to such recognizable bands as Tortoise, Do Make Say Think, and Mogwai. In fact, Mogwai's "Cody" is a frequent cornerstone of their live shows. This compact crew consists of guitars and percussion played by Alberto Anadone, Gianmaria Aprile, and Davide Impellizzeri. They have found success in "Atmosfere Rock" in Ferrara and "Experimenta 2000" in Massa, two Italian music festivals you've heard about but never seem to make it to.

Camera Obscura is a Melbourne-based indie label specializing in the type of music that graces the pages of UK freakzine Ptolemaic Terrascope and garners raves on various Internet discussion lists. Equally influenced by "DIY kitchen table" and "lounge room floor," Camera Obscura's goal is to be non-retro and to encompass everything from free jazz to folk. Bands in Camera Obscura's 40-album catalog include psych-popsters Green Pajamas, dronemasters Our Glassie Azoth, and the mind-melting acid rock of the Black Sun Ensemble.
