Les Savy Fav to Kick Off Tour with Benefit
Hot off their European tour, Rhode Island's favorite art-punks, Les Savy Sav, are wasting no time getting a massive U.S. tour underway. The band recently announced several more dates for the stateside jaunt, with a total of 32 confirmed stops in cities across this great nation.
They'll kick things off a week from today in New York City with a benefit show at the Bowery Ballroom, during which they'll be accompanied by GSL hotties !!! (pronounced "chik, chik, chik") and the camouflage-adorned Apes whose debut album, The Fugue in the Fog was released earlier this month on LSF's own Frenchkiss label. The gig will be dedicated to punk rock firefighter John Heffernen (aka Johnny Hef), a guitarist for the NY punk band the Bullys who lost his life in September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center. All proceeds for the show will be donated, in Hef's name, to the Lower East Side fire house at which he volunteered.
After that, Les Savy Fav will tour like crazy until they reach their final destination (Baltimore's Otto Bar) or someone sues frontman Tim Harrington for clocking them with the mic stand, whichever happens first. Along the way, they'll play dates with the aforementioned !!! and the Apes, as well as some easy coast shows with Modest Mouse frontman Issac Brock (under his solo guise of Ugly Casanova) and At the Drive-In side project Defacto. Les Savy Fav's third full-length, Go Forth was released on Tuesday.
