Brainfreeze Video Ready for Release

Until chic "laservinyl" format is invented, VHS will have to do

DJ Shadow and frequent collaborator Cut Chemist, turntablist for both the LA underground hip-hop quintet Jurassic 5 and Latin-flavored funk collective Ozomatli, are releasing a video documenting a live performance of their now legendary Brainfreeze funk set. The original Brainfreeze compilation, a series of tracks compiled from coelocanth-rare 45s, was originally sold exclusively at shows. Limited supply sent the record rocketing up the eBay charts, however, leading to this VHS re-release.

The video set, titled Freeze, features a January 2000 performance from Los Angeles' El Rey Theater. Guest performances by Marvski, Dante, Z-Trip and Nu-Mark are also included. The video was released October 22nd, and is available from Re:Generation:TV. The Freeze release coincides with the latest project from DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist, entitled Product Placement.
