Mark Kozelek Solo LPs Reissued on Vinyl

It sounds just the same at 16rpm!
Vinyl addicts, stop getting up to turn the record over and take note. According to the Badman Recording Co., you'll soon be able to enjoy Red House Painters' Mark Kozelek's first two solo albums (Rock 'n Roll Singer and Up to My Neck in You) on one raucous double LP titled, appropriately enough, If You Want Blood. Unafraid to show his love for Bon Scott-era AC/DC, fourteen of the LP's eighteen tracks are covers of songs by the Aussie rockers. Those who wondered if all these AC/DC covers were really necessary were punched in the head by Brian Johnson.

Red House Painters' fans need not worry that Kozelek has sold his soul to rock 'n roll; he's massively reworked the walking sexual innuendos into "taut, maudlin masterpieces." Of the four remaining tracks, one is a John Denver cover, and three are pure Kozelek.

If the digitally inclined are curious as to what's in this whole thing for them, they need look no further than the two previously unreleased live versions of "Rock 'n Roll Singer" and "Up to My Neck in You," which were recorded in Sweden. If You Want Blood will be released for consumption on December 3rd, so now's a good time to replace that worn out diamond on dad's 1978 model Emerson.

If this release doesn't satisfy your jones for the Koz, look for him in yet another Cameron Crowe film, the forthcoming Tom Cruise-packed Vanilla Sky, which is to be released this fall. Kozelek previously appeared in Crowe's Almost Famous as the fictional band Stillwater's bass player.
