Ben Lee Works with Dan Automator on New LP

Cuteness waning, Lee enlists Raven Symone, Olsen twins for guest moppetry

Australian wunderkind Ben Lee has been spotted working on the follow-up to his 1999 LP, Breathing Tornados, in the San Francisco home-studio of Dan "The Automator" Nakumara. Lee, who has been crafting nifty little two-chord pop songs in his and other people's bedrooms since the age of 14, has, according to his official website, decided to "get his funk on" on this new album. Now that sounds promising!

The Automator, whose past projects include the Chris Elliott-inspired Handsome Boy Modeling School, the surgery-inspired Dr. Octagon, and the supposedly inspired Gorillaz, might just be the producer to outfit Lee with more bounce to the ounce. The sessions should be completed around Christmastime, with the new album slated for an unknown 2002 release on an unknown label. As you know, Grand Royal went out of business a few months ago.
