Of Montreal Preparing Fifth Album

Pitchfork preparing slanderous review

According to a recent press release from Kindercore Records, those wacky psychedelic pranksters Of Montreal have been hard at work on a new album due to drop on April 9th, 2002. Entitled Aldhil's Arboretum, it will be the fifth album from Kevin Barnes and his merry band (not including the abundant supply of EPs and collections), and will be released by (who else?) Kindercore. Incidentally, "kinder" means "children" in German. Consider yourself warned.

Barnes seems to be indulging his inner pop child for the new release, which is good news for those turned off by the experimental nature of Of Montreal's last few albums. "We wanted to make an album of singles. An album where each song is provocative and challenging but still danceable and easy to sing along with." This from a guy who named his most recent seven-inch "Inside a Room Full of Treasures a Black Pygmi Horse's Head Pops Up Like a Periscope." Of Montreal plans to tour extensively behind Aldhil's Arboretum in 2002.
