Elf Power to Release New LP in Spring

Powers of barbarians, magicians, half-dwarves shamefully overlooked

Athens, Georgia-based Elf Power has recently completed the follow-up to last year's The Winter Is Coming. The new album, Creatures, contains eleven brand-new, dream-pop-o-centric tracks, chock-full of good times and shaven genitals. Actually, the songs contain "diverse instrumentation" and "evocative lyrics," but shaven genitals is so much more fun to say. In fact, we never stop saying it, even for a second.

So anyway, Creatures was recorded at Chase Park Studios in Athens this past August, and the final mastering was completed in Atlanta. There's no word as of yet as to whether or not Fred Schneider or Big Boi lent guest vocals in either of the two cities, respectively, but insiders find this terribly unlikely, and not particularly funny. What they need is a good dose of shaven genitals.

Creatures marks the fifth release for Elf Power, though it's their first album recorded without founding member Bryan Helium on bass. Helium departed like a bad element last spring to work on his solo project, The Late B.P. Helium. The band recently released a split 7" with Of Montreal on Jonathan Whiskey Records.

At this point, Elf Power doesn't know which label will release the new album, yet have gone ahead and slated Creatures for a March 2002 release. Now I think we all know what happens when we count our chickens before they hatch. No, they don't get born with shaven genitals. But wouldn't that be something?
