Big Country Lead Singer Found Dead

Stuart Adamson, the 43-year-old lead singer of the 80s Scottish pop/new-wave group Big Country, was found dead in Hawaii a few days ago in an apparent suicide. He was discovered by his manager, Ian Grant (also the founder of Track Records), after hanging himself in a hotel in Honolulu on Sunday.

Adamson had been living in Nashville most recently, but had gone missing a few weeks ago. He was born in Manchester, and formed his first band, the Skids, in the 1970s. Adamson's career with Big Country started in 1981, and culminated in the 1983 single "In a Big Country," which reached #17 on the Billboard pop charts. Adamson had since formed a new band called the Raphaels.
