Dead Low Tide Wrap Up Debut LP

Special McDLT container keeps the punk side punk, the rock side rock

While ex-Murder City Devil bassist Derek Fudesco and the rest of his Pretty Girls Make Graves cohorts bask in the glowing Pitchfork review of their debut LP Good Health, the remaining ex-Devils have had to continue to weather our good-natured joshing as Dead Low Tide. The band has, since its inception earlier this year, been primarily a touring band, finding little time to record material, save for a paltry tour-only single and a few songs available on their website. Incidentally, this material doesn't stray too far from the Devils' gutter-punk sound of yore, minus the Farfisa organ and the bass work of Dynamic Derek. Realizing that album sales were literally non-existent, Dead Low Tide dropped everything and headed to the studio.

Since the recording process just came to an end on July 3rd, there's not even a tentative tracklist for the album. The band anticipates releasing the LP on Tiger Style Records, home to such sonic polar opposites as New York folkies Ida and electroniwanker Her Space Holiday. Dead Low Tide has high hopes of having the album finished and ready to release in October, presumably because it's such a damn spooky month and might allow the band to dress up in GWAR-like costumes when they go back out on tour.

Finally, Dead Low Tide will be appearing at the Capitol Hill Block Party on Sunday, July 14th-- that's the Capitol Hill in Seattle, not the one where that pussy-ass Bill bawled when he got vetoed on Schoolhouse Rock.
