Sleater-Kinney Contribute Song to Benefit Comp
Punk rock heroes Sleater-Kinney have joined female acts from all points on the musical spectrum to lend
tracks to an upcoming benefit CD which will assist families affected by domestic violence. The album,
entitled Respond II, from Signature Sounds, features "special tracks" (read: "previously released
material") and some unreleased gems from 32 different artists. All work on the project was done by
volunteers so that all profits can go to the designated charities: RESPOND Incorporated and the Family
Violence Prevention Fund. The two-disc compilation hits stores today, or you may also order the record
online from the Respond Project website.

Respond II is a sequel to 1999's Respond benefit CD. That disc featured Juliana Hatfield and Mary
Lou Lord, and it raised over $125,000 for RESPOND, Inc. This second installment is dedicated to the memory
of the late Billboard Editor-in-Chief Timothy White who named the first Respond as his favorite
album of the year for 1999.
