Flaming Lips to Release New Single, DVD
Though plans have been shelved for a domestic release of the Flaming Lips' promo-only Yoshimi Wins
EP, Pitchfork has secured the tracklist for the second single from Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots,
which, as luck would have it, is for the album's title track. The three-part set is due this Tuesday in
the UK and will include two cuts from the Yoshimi Wins promo, a previously unheard remix of "Do You
Realize??," and a Japanese-language version of the single with a slightly different ending (uh, Yoshimi is
a man?). The DVD edition includes instrumental offerings from the respectively rare and as-yet-unreleased
Okie Noodling and Christmas on Mars soundtracks. Tracklists:
Disc one:
01 Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Part 1
02 Do You Realize?? (Floating In Space remix)
03 Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, Part 1 [Japanese version]
Disc two:
01 Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Part 1
02 Can't Get You Out of My Head [live on KEXP]
03 Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, Part 1 [live on Sessions @ AOL]
DVD:
01 Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Part 1 [video]
02 Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Part 1 [audio]
03 Fish Fry & The Bigot's Drunk *
04 Galactic Melancholy **
* from Okie Noodling
** from Christmas on Mars
In other Lips developments, the crazy wingnuts at New Musical Express are reporting that Lord
of the Rings star Elijah Wood has agreed to appear in the Lips' Christmas on Mars, the self-funded
musical holiday film due in December 2003. If it turns out to be true, it'll be another feather in Wood's
limited-edition hobbit-stitched commemorative ballcap. Come on 'Lij, it couldn't possibly be worse than
North.
