Oneida to Tour in Pieces, Then as a Whole

Just like Voltron, but with crappier battle names

Brooklyn psychedelic noise pimps Oneida had planned a tour to kick off in early February, but classes in "jazz theory and the history of fusion" have forced them to put their live creativity to the test, according to a post on the band's website, courtesy of keyboardist Fat Bobby. While bassist Hanoi Jane is otherwise occupied with the aforementioned intellectual conquests, her bandmates, Fat Bobby and drummer Kid Millions, are hitting the road for a week of shows, in such swinging coldspots as Moscow, Idaho, as the newly named People of the North. Kid Millions says to expect a set from the duo that consists of "classic duo covers (Silver Apples, Suicide, etc.) and will also include originals into the mix. Set to be determined-- expect insanity." Hopefully, they won't resort to slinging feces if the concertgoers aren't interested. People of the North tourdates:

02-06 Pittsburgh, PA - Gooski's
02-07 Chicago, IL - Empty Bottle (w/Check Engine, We Ragazzi)
02-08 Kansas City, MO - The Brick (w/Go Fast, The Silvermen)
02-09 Denver, CO - Larimer Lounge (w/More Than Human)
02-11 Salt Lake City, UT - Urban Lounge
02-13 Spokane, WA - TBA
02-14 Moscow, ID - Mikey's Gyros

After the Idahoan pro-Communist and potato rally, the band will reunite to bring their feedback juggernaut to the west coast and then on a swing through Dixie before returning home. Oneida tourdates:

As for recorded music, and as previously reported by Pitchfork, Oneida released a split with Liars titled Atheists, Reconsider, which was their first recording without guitarist PCRZ. Next on Oneida's agenda: hitting Brooklyn's Rare Book Room studio to record songs for a five-song EP for the Ace Fu imprint with producer Nicolas Vernhes (Les Savy Fav, Fischerspooner, David Grubbs). But that ain't all. Apparently, the right combination of drugs and innate chemical imbalance can lead to new heights in prolific songwriting: Fat Bobby assures fans that Oneida's new LP will get the attention it deserves, soon-like. "When we get back from tour in March, we'll finish The Wedding-- the album that should redefine the essence of love in Western culture." Shit, we thought Joe Millionaire was doing that.
