Bettie Serveert Announce New LP, Spring Tour
n
Marnie Christenson reports:
As previously reported by Pitchfork, 90s Dutch alterna-jangle sweethearts Bettie Serveert are working on a
new album. Check that, have completed their new album. According to the band's official website,
the curiously titled Log 22 will be released in the U.S. on March 11th via Palomine Records, and will
be distributed by Hidden Agenda/Parasol here in the States. Bejammeren, Dutchies, you and your European
friends will have to wait until March 17th. Finally, we get a record before the old country! Even though
the release is still a month away, we have scored the tracklist:
n
01 Wide Eyed Fools
02 Smack
03 Have a Heart
04 Captain of Maybe
05 De Diva
06 Given
07 Not Coming Down
08 Cut n' Dried
09 Log 22
10 White Dogs
11 Certain Lie
12 The Ocean, My Floor
13 The Love-In
n
Call it comeback if you like-- and since we smell the black-smoke-belching wheels of the promo machine
grinding, we will-- but after a two-year hiatus, the Betties are back in gear. For your viewing pleasure,
the band has served up the video for the first single, "Smack", now available on their website. "Smack"
is also the opening track on Parasol's Sweet Sixteen, Vol. 6 sampler, which includes tracks by
Serveert singer Carol van Dijk's twangy side project Chitlin Fooks, as well as Bikeride and Menthol among
others. Van Dijk and company are also currently working on a video for the second single, "Wide Eyed
Fools", which is expected to hit heavy rotation on MTV in never. Bettie Serveert plan to support the new
album with a tour of the U.S. in March and April, and the Netherlands in May. (Who'd have thought it would
take a month to tour the Netherlands?) Tour dates:
