Kid Dynamite to Reunite for Charity

...for kids who got their hands blown off playing with dynamite?

Photographer Mark Beemer asked Kid Dynamite to get back together in order to benefit his late wife's endowment. Presumably, the band said, "Dyn-o-mite!" and, hence, two years after their disbanding, the kids will reunite for two shows (and possibly a third, such has been the demand), and will donate 100% of each show's proceeds to the endowment Mark established in the name of his wife, Syrentha J. Savio, who lost her life to cancer in January 2002. The Syrentha J. Savio Endowment (SSE) was established to honor the memory of Syrentha, and provides chemotherapy and other medication for individuals who cannot afford this expensive medical treatment. Both shows will be held at the First Unitarian Church (You KNOW those Unitarians rock the MOST) in Philadelphia on Friday and Saturday, April 11th and 12th. Both shows are all ages events.

Philly-based Kid Dynamite arose from the ashes of Dan Yemin's previous brainchild, Lifetime. Both bands are sorely missed on the hardcore scene, but both Dan and Kid Dynamite vocalist Jason Shevchuk have moved onto other projects. Dan has been demoing material for his new band Paint It Black (which features Dave Wagenshultz, erstwhile member of both Lifetime and Kid Dynamite). Their new album C.V.A. (short for Cardio Vascular Accident-- Yemin had a stroke some time after Kid Dynamite broke up) comes out June 17th on the Jade Tree label. Tracklist:

01 Another Beautiful "Fuck You" Song!
02 Womb Envy
03 C.V.A.
04 Why Film the Carnage?
05 Anesthesia
06 This Song Is Short Because It's Not Political

Shevchuk's band, None More Black, which also counts Paul from Kill Your Idols amongst its members, releases its album, File Under Black, on June 3rd via Fat Wreck Chords. Pitchfork detects the scary undertones of a hardcore pissing contest brewing here, but we'll just step back and let the good times roll. And while Kid Dynamite's reunion is merely temporary and for the sole purpose of this very commendable cause, you can also look out for a Kid Dynamite rarities and unreleased songs CD coming out later this year on Jade Tree. Both Paint It Black and None More Black are also touring under their own names this season.
