King Kong Ready for a 13-Date Rampage

Expected to fall from building, return to human form, edge off screen covering genitals

Fresh off their opening gig for the Billy Corgan circus known affectionately 'round these parts as Zwan, former Slint-er Ethan Buckler's latest outfit King Kong is crawling down off of tall buildings and gearing up to invade a rock bar near you. The Kong got together way back in 1989, after the aforementioned indie rock geniuses had parted ways. Anymore, this kind of longevity puts these guys on par with fucking U2 or something, but with less mousse. Tour dates:

Buckler, borrowing the weathered Pitchfork thesaurus, described the band's music as such: "We play it funky, funny, repetitive, rhythmic, melodic hypnotic, serious, mysterious, bluesy, emotional and conceptual. Our concert should make you feel like you are one of the those natives who are performing an ancient ritual dancing under the torchlight to manifest the spirit of King Kong into a physical reality." It took him an hour to come up with that. Now they're ready to take the Eastern U.S. by storm (er, no pun intended. Okay, the pun was intended, but we didn't mean it. Okay, we meant it, but we felt stupid saying it. Um, editor?).

As far as new material is concerned, a new song called "Huh Hah" will be released on a compilation CD in Louisville called The Mother Lodge Session. Ethan tells Pitchfork that he's working on new material, but is not ready to record yet. But don't fret: The Pitchfork paparazzi are permanently camped outside his house, and when he heads for the studio, we'll let ya know (space permitting).
