Max Tundra Headlines Austin Digital Showcase

Austin envy now a documented mental condition

British electronic artist Ben Jacobs (aka Max Tundra) will take a brief break from receiving fellatio from Pitchfork reviewers (move over and give Radiohead a chance, you jerk!) to headline the Austin Museum of Digital Art's second anniversary Digital Showcase on March 11th at Texture in Austin, TX. AMODA, one of the world's foremost promoters of digital art in all forms, holds a monthly event to bring together area artists and musicians with top experimentalists from around the world. Past performers include Cex, Múm, Miles Tilmann, Lesser, and Flowchart.

n In honor of its second year of programs, AMODA's twentieth Digital Showcase will feature some of the United States' and Europe's most notable purveyors of digital arts, including musicians Moblin (Philadelphia), Nudge and Strategy (Portland), Stars as Eyes and Dae Dum (Austin), and Max Tundra and Freeform (London, England). Visual artists will include Bexar, Sue Costabile, Devin Simunovich, and Scott Pagano, Giles Hendrix, Joe Huck, Rustbox, and Jacob Villanueva, Shirin Kouladjie, Golan Levin, Mordka, and Meso. When Pitchfork asked an AMODA representative about the Digital Showcase's proximity to another festival starting the next night in Austin, a Stephen Hawking-like synth voice responded, "South by Southwhatnow?"

n To get the digilove flowing, peep the mission statement from AMODA's website: "The Austin Museum of Digital Art (AMODA) is a non-profit institution that promotes access to and appreciation of digital art... Our mission is to engage the public, educate the community and support artists in the creation, understanding and appreciation of digital art... Currently AMODA is a nomadic institution, holding exhibitions, showcases, lectures, youth programs and other events at various locations around Austin, often in collaboration with other arts and educational organizations. Ultimately, AMODA is envisioned as a permanent venue for digital art-- a world class art museum in downtown Austin, open to the public. Our goal is to make AMODA a leading center in the community for art presentation, education and outreach."
