Kid Koala Releases Graphic Novel and CD

All that scratchin' is making him glitch

Got a thing for robots, romance, and women's history? Well, then, sweet baby pie, March just might be your very special month. Please divert your eyes momentarily from SuicideGirls.com and look north to Canadia, as Montreal vinyl-eater Kid Koala stops doing it to you in your eardrum to do it to you on your coffeetable. His new graphic novel, Nufonia Must Fall, is gettin' turned on out by ECW Press in March and will be accompanied by a CD soundtrack with ten new songs. The book, which is touted as the first "silent paperback," is a romantic tragedy about a robot that woos a lady with love songs. Daft Punk done been shown up! If you don't think you can scratch up $24.95 (only $29.95 Canadian!) to buy the book, or if 300 pages of robot love freaks your ass out, head over to Kid Koala's official website to peep the 30-second film version. What, that's supposed to leave us wanting more?

The Kid will hit the road for a short promotional tour, where he'll be joined by guest DJs P-Love and Jester and a harem of Quebecois in C-3PO costumes. A night of storytelling, piano, and turntable in a town near you:

03-11 Montreal, QC - Le Cabaret
03-13 Boston, MA - Brattle Theater
03-15 New York, NY - Joe's Pub
03-19 Toronto, ON - The Rivoli
03-21 Chicago - Schuba's
03-23 Vancouver, BC - HR MacMillan Auditorium
03-25 Seattle, WA - Chop Suey
03-26 Portland, OR - TBD
03-28 San Francisco, CA - TBD
03-29 Los Angeles, CA - Knitting Factory

Nufonia Must Fall appears to be only the beginning of big things for Kid Koala, however, as his website lists a strategic action plan of sorts for the rest of the decade. He aims to give us a new book, CD, and tour every couple of years, starting with Some of My Best Friends Are DJs later in 2003 and followed by a monster theater tour, referred to as "The Big One," with guest DJs, a stand-up comedian (Neil Hamburger, perhaps?), and something called Laderhosen Lucil (Okay, so it's not so far off from SuicideGirls.com). Let's not forget it's been three years since Carpal Tunnel Syndrome before marking our calendars for the release of Creatures of the Late Afternoon in 2009. But hell, it beats waiting for Chinese Democracy and Christmas on Mars.
