Enon Prepares New LP, Three Singles, World Tour

Goin' nukular

Regardless of whether the UN Security Council passes a resolution next week declaring a timetable for its release, the steely-eyed brass in the Enon war room are preparing a crushing blitzkrieg of 2003 releases, culminating in a new album as early as this September, according to sources at Touch & Go. In blatant ignorance of the masses' cries for restraint, this month Troubleman Unlimited will unleash a punishing first strike with a seven-inch platter of pipin' hot whup-ass containing exclusive tracks "Evidence" and "Grain of Assault".

n The tactical gurus at Enon command had at one time planned to simultaneously open a European front with an aural manifesto entitled The Monochrome EP. Pitchfork intelligence has determined that this particular facet of attack has been discarded at present, though the contents of this aborted EP have yet to be declassified.

n Instead, long-oppressed sufferers of the current regime will get their next taste of Enon's mangled-pop wrath in June, with the release of an enhanced CD in support of High Society's masterful "In This City". The four-track EP will include remixes of the title track by the band and Gern Blandsten superhero Dälek, an alternate mix of new track "Murder Sounds", and a dub of "Inches" (originally found on a self-released instrumental disc). And if that isn't enhanced enough for your liberation-craving ass, they're throwing in all three videos from High Society: "In This City", "Pleasure and Privelege", and "Carbonation".

n Then, the fabled shit hits the propeller with full force in September as Enon drops Hocus Pocus, the prolific trio's follow-up to last year's High Society. It, too, will be preceded by a seven-inch single featuring an album cut and one previously unreleased song. The tentative tracklist for Hocus Pocus, according to Touch & Go, looks like this:

n 01 Shave
02 The Power of Yawning
03 Murder Sounds
04 Storm the Gates
05 Daughter in the House of Fools
06 Mikazuki
07 Candy
08 Monsoon
09 Utz
10 Spanish Boots
11 Starcastic
12 Litter in the Glitter
13 Hocus Pocus

n Enon are currently jetsetting across Europe, knocking back pints at every La Boule Noir and Kafe Kult between here and Hamburg through the first week in April. Highlights of the tour include a pre-St. Patrick's Day stint at the amusingly named High Stool in Limerick, Ireland and an April Fool's gig in the Czech Republic. The Faint are set to join Enon's diplomatic mission for two dates in France, a crucial territory in the propaganda campaign. The two bands will reconnoiter in the U.S. in mid-May for four more dates, as Enon drums up domestic support for their covert agenda. Tour dates:

n We were going to recommend that you check out Enon's official website, where the exclusive web-only MP3 "March of the Symbols" is available for download, but it seems the kooky krew at Forkitude are having some trouble resolving the band's web domain at present (renewal check's in the mail). In the meantime, knock yourself out exploring the below-linked sites, which include a good ol' fashioned bow-hunting preserve and a Baptist church in Vinemont, Alabama. Please note that Enon are in no way responsible for the unbelievably wanky Christian MIDI on the "Want Jesus?" section of the latter, though it's certainly nice to hear that "Jellybean" Benitez is still getting work.
