Brooklyn, NY-based indie rock stars The National have just embarked upon a 17-date tour of the Eastern and Midwestern U.S. But since they've already "embarked" that means you've only got 10 chances left to catch them in the States this year. The National are touring in support of their new album, Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers, which was released September 2nd on Brassland. Sad Songs is the quintet's second full-length. The group, originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, consists of two sets of brothers-- Scott (guitar) and Bryan Devendorf (drums), Aaron (bass) and Bryce Dessner (guitar), and vocalist Matt Berninger-- but formed in the late '90s after they had relocated to New York.
