Moldy Peaches Part Ways To Tour With Solo Projects

Presidents of the United States of America still show unhealthy interest in procuring them

John L. Ferrer and Ashford Tucker report:
Anti-folk champion/ Moldy Peaches frontman Adam Green, fresh off a host of Canadian and European shows with the Libertines and Tindersticks in support of his new album Friends of Mine, is coming back to America for a few shows with the Thrills later this month. The dates:

10-24 Boston, MA - Axis
10-25 Toronto, Ontario - Horseshoe Tavern
10-27 New York, NY - Bottom Line
10-28 Philadelphia, PA - North Star
10-30 Chicago, IL - Double Door

11-03 San Diego, CA - Casbah
11-04 West Hollywood, CA - Troubadour
11-06 San Francisco, CA - Bottom Of The Hill
11-08 Seattle, WA - Crocodile Cafe

He's also got a new video in the can for "Jessica," so be on the lookout for that. It was reported on Green's website a while back that he was in talks with cult filmmaker Jim Jarmusch about doing a clip, but it's not yet known whether this is that video, or if the pair even decided to move ahead with the collaboration. Maybe they were too weird for each other. In either case, the single for "Jessica" has been out for a couple weeks now if you want to grab it. It features Adam covering the Libertines' "What A Waster" and collaborating with Ben Kweller on a cover of that hoary soundtrack-to-Cocktail favorite "Kokomo." Tracklist:

01 Jessica
02 Friends of Mine
03 Don't Smoke/Bronx Zoo 1989
04 What A Waster
05 Kokomo [with Ben Kweller]

In an incredible pairing of child abuse and the inner-child complex, the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow will tour throughout October and early November with the Moldy Peaches' Kimya Dawson playing a supporting role. Dawson is the no-talent thirtysomething goatess constantly bleating childhood pop-culture minutia out of her blowhole. Apparently, she likes the Thundercats; we get it. Bring a book. Because you must make it through her set to see the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow.

The Trachtenburgs are a fucked-up married couple from Seattle via New York who drag their nine-year-old daughter around the country, forcing her to play drums on the semi-witty songs dad plays to accompany a junk culture slideshow put on by mom. That's really weird. Like, Jehovah's-Witness-you-can't-have-a-birthday-party-anymore weird. I've already got my tickets!

Methinks "tour" is Trachtenburg fancyspeak for being on the lam from the Department of Social Services. Take note, ye DSS do-gooders, here's a list of when and where to save the little one from her pimping assclown parents (all dates with Kimya Dawson):

And now that we have the attention of those treasured few people who don't loathe every ounce of the Moldy Peaches, you may be interested to know that Dawson has contributed her creepy voice to, of all things, a children's storybook. She'll be singing a new version of the They Might Be Giants tune "Bed Bed Bed," for inclusion on a five-song CD that accompanies the upcoming storybook featuring the lyrics of the same song. It doesn't get much weirder than that, even for anti-folk.
