Broken Social Scene Laptop Stolen; New Single Due Next Week

You forgot it in Nashville

Despite the veritable outpouring of love Broken Social Scene have received in the wake of You Forgot It In People, the band recently posted a plea for more, and specifically more in the general vicinity of Tennessee, where the group experienced an unfortunate recent loss. The band's personal ad, posted on the group's official website, goes a little something like this: "In need of Nashville love: An iBook belonging to the band was taken from 12th and Porter [in Nashville, where the band had been playing October 3rd]. It has extreme value to the band due to the fact that there were works in progress contained [therein]. Broken Social Scene reaches out to anyone [able] to help them karmically make things right. Nashville, please come through for us. Anyone who can assist... anonymously, and with no questions asked, please email." The Apple laptop was reported missing around two weeks ago, and there's been no report of the computer having been returned to the band as of yet.

While this is clearly the most blatant case of music piracy this year, we certainly hope this encourages Broken Social Scene to back their shit up in the future! Please send all unreleased demo recordings and works in progress to Jeremy C. Baron, 101 Pitchfork Plaza, Chicago, IL 60606. I promise not to copy them, not even for my mom.

On a more positive note, Broken Social Scene are gearing up to release a new single in the UK for You Forgot It's "Cause = Time." The Mercury Records release will come out on CD and vinyl October 20th. Tracklists:

CD:
01 Cause = Time
02 Time = Cause
03 Weddings

Vinyl:
01 Cause = Time
02 Da Da Dada

Broken Social Scene's U.S. tour continues through November; dates can be found in our previous story linked below.
