My Morning Jacket Invade Europe, Drop Single In November

Two words: beards and Speedos

[Posted Thursday, October 23rd, 2003 04:00:00 Pitchfork Central Time]

My Morning Jacket have nearly finished rolling through America's amber waves of grain, bringing the rock and the roll to the sweatshirted, beard-flaunting, horn-rimmed glasses wearing, possibly unwashed masses of this great country. Now it's off to Europe, and whatever passes for amber waves of grain there-- translucent ripples of fog, perhaps? You can tell I've been. The first six dates will feature local openers, after which Will Johnson of the excellent Centro-Matic will be joining the boys under the creative nom de plume South San Gabriel, as Centro-Matic will have just wrapped up their own European tour at that point. The shows, my curious friend (all dates from November 12th with South San Gabriel):

11-02 Groningen, Netherlands - Vera
11-03 Amsterdam, Netherlands - Melkweg (The Max)
11-04 Brussels, Belgium - ABBox
11-06 Frankfurt, Germany - Nachtleben
11-07 Hamburg, Germany - Logo
11-09 Paris, France - La Cigale (Festival)
11-11 Munich, Germany - Backstage Club
11-12 Berlin, Germany - Magnet
11-13 Koln, Germany - Prime Club
11-15 Gothenburg, Sweden - Woody
11-16 Stockholm, Sweden - Kagelbanen
11-17 Lund, Sweden - TBA
11-18 Tilburg, Netherlands - 013 (Kleine Zaal)
11-20 London, England - The Mean Fiddler
11-22 Manchester, England - Hop and Grape
11-23 Glasgow, Scotland - King Tut's Wah Wah Hut
11-24 Nottingham, England - Rescue Rooms
11-25 Brighton, England - Concorde

The end of the tour will dovetail nicely with the November 24th release of "Run Thru," the first single from It Still Moves, in the UK. The single features two unreleased b-sides (as if you didn't see that coming)-- a Jim James four-track demo, and an acoustic version of "Old September Blues," from the Jacket's debut album, The Tennessee Fire. Tracklist:

01 Run Thru
02 Breathin' [previously unreleased demo]
03 Old September Blues [acoustic version]
