Flaming Lips EP, DVD Pushed Back Again; Exclusive Download on iTunes

Please refrain from having upbeat sex for at least two more weeks

Sorry, no news of late-night bunny rabbit hijinks or Eminem collaborations, just this: The Flaming Lips' upcoming "Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell" EP and double-disc reissue of Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots with bonus DVD have both been pushed back to November 18th, according to the band's official website. The EP will still get its mellow on in the UK next week, as planned, with a November 3rd release.

And, for fans of the Internet (our entire readership, unless anyone begrudges having to switch on a machine to get their Pitchfork fix), the online version of the "Ego Tripping" EP will include an exclusive bonus: "The [online] version of the EP will have a bonus track so that you can get all the tracks from the two slightly different versions that are coming out in the U.S. and the UK," sitemaster Drew Hird posted to the Lips site. "Or you can even just buy the bonus track on it's own." The Flaming Lips already have an extensive catalog on iTunes, including many exclusive tracks.

As previously reported, the EP contains a total of seven songs, four of which are new. Compare this to the "Fight Test" EP, which also boasted seven songs, all of which were crap (bam!). The new tracks include, as eloquently spoken on the official site, "an upbeat sex song 'Sunship Balloons,' and a driving Christmas anthem 'A Chance At Christmas.'" Because if I want an upbeat sex song, the Flaming Lips are certainly who I'll look to first...
