Centro-Matic Plan New EP, Tour Europe
Steady diet of bran muffins, muesli ensures regular flow of new material

Hot on the heels (lord, I love a cliché) of their acclaimed 2003 release, Love You Just the Same, Misra Records has announced a new Centro-Matic EP, Flashes and Cables, to be released on February 3rd. Apparently, Centro-Matic frontman Will Johnson brought something in the neighborhood of twenty songs to the recording sessions for Love You Just the Same, resulting in them being affectionately dubbed the Shitstorm Sessions. This led to an understandably impressive collection of leftovers, so Misra is doing what any right-thinking label would do in their position-- they're putting that shit out! The EP features four non-album tracks, both the album version and an alternate version of the title track, and three to five yet-to-be-chosen videos. The tracklist, dog:

01 Flashes and Cables
02 Guillotines Hung Together
03 Why They Are Playing So Loudly
04 Flashes and Cables Relax/Recline
05 Infernoesque Grande
06 Love You Just the Same

Centro-Matic is currently touring Europe, after which they will transform, all Mighty Morphin style, into South San Gabriel (which features Will Johnson, Scott Danbom, and Matt Stoessel of Summer Hymns), and tour Europe some more. After that, they thought they'd play a few more dates as Centro-Matic in December, and then, I don't know, maybe get together as South San Gabriel, and play some U.S. dates in January. We've already reported the European South San Gabriel dates (see the link below), but here's everything else:

10-30 Berlin, Germany - Zentral
10-31 Dresden, Germany - Scheune
11-01 Hamburg, Germany - Molotow
11-02 Utrecht, Netherlands - Ekko
11-03 Heythuysen, Netherlands - Tom Tom
11-04 Brussels, Belgium - AB Club (w/ My Morning Jacket)
11-05 Groningen, Netherlands - Vera
11-06 Haarlem, Netherlands - Patronaat
11-08 Tilburg, Netherlands - Sounds (in-store)
11-08 Tilburg, Netherlands - 013
11-09 London, England - Spitz
12-04 Denton, TX - Dan's Silverleaf
12-05 Austin, TX - Continental Club (w/ Damnations)
12-06 Norman, OK - Opolis

Rounding out the fecal whirlwind of Will Johnson related recordings is his follow-up to 2002's solo album A Murder of Tides. According to Misra's Phil Waldorf the album is recorded, "but he hasn't picked a sequence, and in true Will Johnson fashion, he recorded more songs than he plans to release, so we'll need to figure out which songs to cut, unless he decides a 70 minute record is necessary." And he might!
