Les Savy Fav Complete Seven-Inch Single Series, Tour West Coast
"Queer Eye" crew to remix, restyle whole kit and kaboodle

Pitchfork art-hunks (those muscles are so angular!) Les Savy Fav have finally completed recording material for their nine-volume series of seven-inchers. Over the past several years, the band has been releasing seven-inch records, each through a separate record label. The artwork from each single features song lyrics and acts as one of nine pieces to a great, big, 3969-inch square puzzle. Most recently, the band released new tracks "One Way Widow" and "Yawn Yawn Yawn" through Tiger Style Records. The remaining seven-inches will see release on Monitor, Cold Cash, and Suicide Squeeze over the coming months.

These six new songs were recorded and mixed with Phil Ek (responsible for Les Savy Fav's Go Forth...oh, and his work with Pretty Girls Make Graves and Built to Spill) and Chris Zane. Ek recorded all but two of the songs on the final singles in the series; Zane recorded "Dollar Bin" and "Will Make A Lover Of You" and mixed the b-sides for the Monitor and Suicide Squeeze singles. We straight? Yeah? Tracklists, then:

Cold Crush seven-inch:
01 The Sweat Descends *
02 How the World Works *

Monitor seven-inch:
01 Dollar Bin
02 Genre *

Suicide Squeeze seven-inch:
01 Will Make a Lover of You
02 Fading Vibes *

* recorded by Phil Ek

As previously reported here at the 'Fork, the group eventually plans to release all 18 tracks on a CD compilation on bassist Syd Butler's Frenchkiss Records. Originally slated for a 2003 release, the comp is now expected to drop in April of 2004. But the band hopes to more than make up for it: Syd Butler recently told Pitchfork that the Favs hope to "have some extra footage, maybe some live stuff on [the disc] as well." Finally, non-believers will be able to witness the band live. But it's really not the same without Tim Harrington stealing your Polaroid or rubbing his beard against your chin.

What's that, you say? You're a totally sissy British boy studying abroad along the West Coast and you've never seen Les Savy Fav? Well here's your chance, Ashleigh. The group is playing a few dates in California this very month! And here they are:

11-19 Los Angeles, CA - Troubadour
11-22 Pomona, CA - Glass House
11-24 San Diego, CA - Casbah
11-26 San Francisco, CA - Great American Music Hall
