Suede Breaks Up, But Keeps Touring
Will be replaced by all-midget cover band Microsuede

Suede recently announced the impending breakup of their band. Yeah, we here at Pitchfork know your pain. We liked them back in the nineties, too. You can cry on our shoulder if you want. But don't be too sad. You all knew it was going to happen. No artist (or group of artists) survives after a commercial disaster on the scale of A New Morning. Except maybe Mariah Carey (and barely at that).

The band released a statement regarding the breakup via New Musical Express: "Suede would like to announce that from next year they will be working on their own individual projects. There will not be a new studio album until the band feel that the moment is artistically right to make one. This announcement does not affect the forthcoming touring commitments. Suede would like to thank the fans for their wonderful support over the years. See you in the next life." But we can stay friends, right?

The aforementioned tour will be carried out, ending a couple of weeks before Christmas. As recently reported, the band released a greatest-hits album in the UK entitled Singles last month. The band also recently released a triple-disc single for one of the unreleased tracks on Singles, "Attitude," including a DVD with videos and commentary.
