Cat Power Tours in December
Whistle-stop tour to train-wreck at one of every three stations

Cat Power will play anywhere from zero to six solo shows this December. If all goes well, each of her six scheduled dates-- split between the Pacific Northwest and the Petrific Southeast-- will be a vindication of her breathless but incredibly mercurial talent. 'Course, as is common knowledge these days, things rarely go very well for Ms. Chan Marshall on the road, and it's possible that some or even most of these dates will be reduced to agonizing call-and-response sessions wherein Marshall exchanges making music for making self-deprecating remarks while dedicated fans tirelessly counter with encouraging but likely ineffectual and even quite grating blather.

Whether or not you'll be paying $10-$15 to watch her bum smokes from the crowd and pity herself is as unpredictable as the ultimate verdict in the endless message board "hot or not" debate. The poll currently sits at 2:1 in favor of "hot," which we find discouraging. (Have you kids never seen women?) However! If you live in Portland or Seattle, you'll be seeing Cat Power with Sleater-Kinney, which may help to hedge your bets considerably. As previously reported, Sleater-Kinney are playing a few December dates themselves, and (to judge by the ads for the show in Portland) will be headlining the three shows next weekend, with Cat Power in support. Cat Power's website also lists a show on December 17th at the Twilight in Tampa, though this date is not listed on either Matador's tour page or the venue's web schedule.
