Emboldened by their placement at lucky number seven on our year-end best album list, or by the assorted other accolades Chutes Too Narrow received from many and sundry publications and right-thinking individuals, or just by the fact that they made a fucking great album... whichever theory you prefer (and we're not so self-involved so as to not favor the third), The Shins are taking their narrow chutes to the peoples of the coasts this February, with a schedule that includes what must be a record for an 17-date tour, with FOUR two-night stands.

The Shins had been booked to play both David Letterman and Conan O'Brien at either end of the trip, but apparently the former won't stand for the Shins' brand of two-timin': Sub Pop's own Dean Hudson advises Pitchfork that the group have been bumped from their January 13th slot on Letterman's show. The Shins are still booked with Conan on February 17th. Near the end of this month you can expect a menage a three appearances at various London clubs, with the hottest ticket understandably being a double-bill with Modest Mouse on the 21st.
