Sing-Sing Self-Release New EP, Invade BBC's 6 Music
Madame Sing-Sing if you're nasty

It's quite possible that even if you were an ardent fan of Lush during their early '90s heyday, you may have never heard of Sing-Sing. And that's a shame. Featuring Emma Anderson of Lush and onetime Locust vocalist Lisa O'Neill, Sing-Sing have released several singles and one full-length, The Joy of Sing-Sing, since forming in 1997, treading generally familiar ground to Anderson's former band. Seeing as how Lush's American following could hardly have been considered formidable, even at their peak, it's not really surprising that Sing-Sing have yet to find an audience here in the States, but for you lovers of shimmering pop melodies, there will soon be ample opportunities to reverse the trend.

Now working under that most indie of auspices-- the self-release-- Sing-Sing have just released a new EP on their own Ariel Records imprint entitled Madame Sing-Sing. The EP features production work by Mark Van Hoen (Seafeel, Mojave 3), and the fine mixing skills of Alan Moulder (Lush, Smashing Pumpkins, My Bloody Valentine, and so on). However, unless you happen to be CD shopping on London's Portobello Road, and you also happen to drop into Rough Trade, you're not going to find it in stores. Luckily, they have just launched a new website and online shop, where you can pick up nearly all of Sing-Sing's releases, including the early EP's, full-length, and Madame Sing-Sing. The tracklist:

01 Ruby
02 A Modern Girl
03 Everyday
04 I Do (I Re-Do mix)

According to the band's official site, you'll also have a chance to check out Sing-Sing on the BBC's online digital station 6 Music. The group's Emma Anderson will be joining Roundtable, a weekly record review show, on the 23rd of January. Then Sing-Sing will be doing an acoustic session for broadcast on the Tom Robinson show for four consecutive nights starting on February 9th. Following that, both Anderson and O'Neill will be in the studio with Robinson for an interview on February 10th. As 6 Music is one of those newfangled "online" music stations, even us damn Yanks can listen in-- and the shows are archived for a full week after broadcast, so you don't even really have to go to the effort to figure out how many hours you subtract for Greenwich Mean Time.

Plans for the next Sing-Sing full-length are still in the distant planning stage, but with the newest EP being self-released, supporting a band's future has never been easier. According to the band's official site, assuming they gather the requisite funds there should be a new Sing-Sing album by the end of the year. Which is to say, it's all up to you, people. Well, and the notoriously fickle British music scene-- maybe they're in trouble.
