Grandaddy, Fire Theft Team with Saves The Day For Massive Spring Tour
Immigrant, baby, and guy on mushrooms each awed in their own distinct way

Despite their recent snub from most critics' Best of 2003 lists (including a handful of Pitchforkians), Grandaddy has opted to suck it up and make a major move forwards. Well, sideways, actually. It seems that Modesto's own scruffy bunch of faux rednecks needs a good shot of love after much indie-dissing, and will do so via the road. You remember the road, right? It's that place where Beatniks lived free and chickens crossed frequently, all to get to the other side. Strange.

In any event, Grandaddy is all set to co-headline a six-week spring tour in support of Sumday, along with Saves The Day, who are supporting their Dreamworks debut In Reverie. I know the only prior reason to get there early was to load up on High Life and determine who will win the evening's coveted Ashton Kutcher award for trendiest hipster. Not this time, as Jeremy Enigk's The Fire Theft is all set to open. Enigk and two more former Sunny Day Real Estate-ers are promoting their 2003 self-titled release. See, everyone's got wares to hawk.

The upcoming tour marks Grandaddy's fourth outing in support of Sumday (damn, I don't think I even left the house four times all last year). While the chances are pretty darn good that you caught one of their three previous tour performances, the boys have added a little extra incentive this time around. It seems that Apple's iTunes is planning to release a free downloadable limited-edition EP available to fans who already own Sumday. A tracklist and release date for the EP will be announced sumday soon. Hot damn, that's some awful punning. And now some dates so I can go work on my material:
