Bush inapropriately uses State of the Union speech to call for release of "Chinese Democracy"

The 14th Annual Tibet House benefit concert is scheduled for February 25th at the long running New York landmark Carnegie Hall. This year's line up includes indie darlings Yo La Tengo, other indie darling Bright Eyes, former Talking Head and current PowerPoint artist David Byrne, contemporary blues man Keb 'Mo, Kinks mastermind/ recent shooting victim Ray Davies, and artistic director Phillip Glass. In addition to being a benefit for Tibet House, the concert is also to observe the Monlam Prayer Festival, a traditional Tibetan celebration that was outlawed by the Chinese government after it took over the country more than 40 years ago. But, the monks have practiced it a lot, and apparently they got so good at it they're playing Carnegie fucking Hall!

Tibet House is an organization that is dedicated to the perseverance of Tibetan art culture and spiritual heritage, preferably using methods that do not involve the Beastie Boys. The organization maintains that culture and art from each civilization "vitally enriches" the culture of the world. They've obviously never read Jewel's book of poetry. It makes all other art obsolete.
