Astralwerks reports that genre-hopping Australian pop mavens The Sleepy Jackson are embarking on their first U.S. headlining tour this spring, including stops at SXSW and the Coachella festival. The band's U.S. debut full-length, Lovers, made some waves-- it won a spot on Rolling Stone's 50 Best Albums of 2003 list, garnered five nominations in the ARIA Awards (the Australian equivalent of The Grammys), and earned them supporting slots on tours with My Morning Jacket and The Polyphonic Spree. The press release even ventures that "2003 will be forever known as the year the band took their music to the world and the world listened."

Uh-huh. I can definitely picture myself in fifty years, reminiscing to my grandkids: "Well, 2001, that was the year of the World Trade Center attack, a dark time.
