Holopaw, Iron & Wine on Tour in April
Press advised that photographs of Sam Beam come out grainy and sepia-toned no matter what you do

Two masters of the "rustic folk underscored by vestiges of modernity" style, Holopaw's John Orth and Iron & Wine's Sam Beam, are uniting for a tour in April-- the initial dates of which are available on Holopaw's official website. You may be familiar with Orth from Isaac Brock's Ugly Casanova album (on which Orth sang most of the best songs) or from Holopaw's excellent Sub Pop debut, which yoked a Tracy Chapman vocal timbre to folk compositions leavened with subtle, pneumatic electronic effects that were as vivid and sumptuous as the "artichoke fields next to the ocean" and "Chinese lantern-lit gardens" shimmering in his lyrics.

Iron & Wine's Sam Beam filters Old South moral tradition and pastoral imagery though his poetic, impressionistic lens (the analogy is apt-- Beam is a professor of cinematography); his sophomore album, Our Endless Numbered Days, is more lushly produced than previous efforts, but remains simple and sublime. It will be released by Sub Pop on March 23rd. Come on in and sit a spell for a night of gentle twang, soft-spoken banter and tender frissons-- you can almost hear the beards growing.
