Queens of the Stone Age's Nick Oliveri Tours Alone

Former Queens of the Stone Age bassist, Nick Oliveri, is showing his softer side with a solo tour. Proving once and for all that bald, goatee'd men can be sensitive (it's true), Oliveri is shunning the cacophony of a full "rock" band and going acoustic as the opener for former Kyuss cohort Brant Bjork. Imagine the sweetness of Oliveri's tender voice as he lovingly croons songs by his various bands, such as The Dwarves' "I'm Dead", or Mondo Generator's "Meth, I Hear You Callin'".

Of course, we know better than to actually expect this guy to bring us flowers: His set really is just as likely to offer a pissed off, high-octane, Vin Diesel-esque romp through originals and covers, filtered through a fog of cigarette smoke and swigs of booze. In addition to this brief U.S. tour, European fans can expect to see Oliveri's acoustic performance towards the end of April, but, with the exception of a couple of dates, details have yet to be hammered out in that arena.
