The Shins Extend North American Tour
Roadie fired for referring to himself as "Shin guard"

Wow. The Shins! Those crazy Shins! They just won't stop! It's been less than a month since we last reported the band's tour itinerary, and in that time, they've announced many additions to the schedule. Although first glance might suggest that this list is no different than the last list we ran, the keen eye will most certainly detect the differences: There are now shows taking place in Vancouver, Denver, Tucson, Pomona, San Diego, Austin, Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta, Norfolk, and Columbus.

Also noteworthy is the fact that, upon their return from Europe, The Shins will be joined on certain dates by the awesome new indie rock duo The Fiery Furnaces. That band's 2003 debut, Gallowsbird's Bark-- which appeared on Pitchfork's Top 50 Albums list at the end of last year-- recalled old blues men, the British Invasion, and Southern roots all with a playful sensibility, yet also featured a dark side described by our own Amanda Petrusich as "skewed and peculiar enough to keep you peeking nervously over your shoulder every couple of minutes." If that doesn't sound like a good time, what does?

The bad news is, however, is that, as of press time, there is not much of an indication as to which shows The Shins and The Fiery Furnaces will be playing together. The tour itineraries currently displayed on their respective web domiciles show no dates in common, but maybe they're just waiting to spring that stuff on us next week so's we can do another story.
