Mooney Suzuki Reveal Details of New Matrix-Produced LP
And Avril think's SHE'S punk?!

Last September, we received word that rock laughables The Mooney Suzuki were collaborating with teen-pop songwriters The Matrix, and offered a completely unbiased ranting lampoon on the subject on this very newswire. Now, nearly eight months later, the labors of that beautiful union have been stamped with titles and release dates.

The album, which follow's 2002's Electric Sweat, is to be titled Alive & Amplified, and will mark the band's third full-length release, and first LP as Columbia's latest rawk bitch. While we don't have a full tracklist yet, confirmed songs for the new release sport such awesomely anonymous titles as "Hot Sugar", "Legal High", "Primitive Condition", "Naked Lady", and "Sometimes Something." A tentative release date of August 10th has been scheduled, and naturally, a world tour is in the works.

Mooney's shaggy haired, jacket-toting frontman, Sammy James Jr., recently offered insight into the band's new sound to Billboard: "We wanted to make a record that sounded like the Beach Boys, the 5th Dimension and Phil Spector... All of our previous recordings were very raw and stripped-down. With Alive & Amplified, we went to the other end of the spectrum. We wanted to create an explosion of dense, layered, kaleidoscopic maximalism!" Whoa, hold your horses, son! Minimalism to maximalism in just one album? Kids today are too goddamn smart.
