Acid Mothers Temple Release New Album, Tour
Plan to limit all future albums to one 70-minute track stolen by Radiohead, rumble ensues

After a brief stop in Canada, the Japanese experimental-psychedelic-freakout ensemble known as Acid Mothers Temple will be embarking on a U.S. tour that will take them to a great many far-reaching locales that are, in fact, the polar opposite to the nature-y scenes depicted by so many of the band's album covers. The tour is scheduled to begin on May 21st at Victoriaville, Quebec's-- say it with me now-- Colisee de Bois-Francs, Festival International Musique Actuelle, and comes just in time to drum up some excitement for their forthcoming studio release, Mantra of Love, due May 11th on Alien8 Recordings.

The new album reportedly finds the group in a bit of a more melodic mood than on previous releases, with crisp production and soothing vocals by longtime member Cotton Casino. According to the Alien8 website, Mantra of Love will be "the perfect release for those who enjoy the more melodic, drone-out, hippy elements of the band, but also want the piece to let loose from time to time." While the album consists of just two tracks, you can bet your blacklight poster collection they'll bend space and time to feel like decades. Additionally, Alien8 describes the record as sporting an "undeniable heavyosity." That's right: heavyosity. You can't even deny it!

But what would an Acid Mothers Temple tour be without a brand new tour-only CD and a slew of limited edition CD-Rs for sale at the merch table? That's right, a fucking ripoff is what it would be. The tour-only disc is entitled Hypnotic Liquid Machine from the Golden Utopia, and identifies just one track called-- well, take a guess. However, it also reportedly contains a "special bonus track," that, although untitled, features writing credits from, ahem, Captain Bret Heart and Terry Funk Zappa. Nice. Dates:
