Múm to Release Limited Book Version of New CD
Heard to declare "reading is the new listening" during Barnes & Noble instore

Icelandic pop group Múm will be releasing a limited-edition version of their new CD, Summer Make Good, just in time for... well, summer. The new edition will be limited to a mere 5,000 copies, and will feature the entire album, plus a 32-page, Radiohead-style hardbound book full of the band's drawings, scribblings, doodlings, writings, and other unusual Icelandic bullshit.

Summer Make Good was originally released on May 4th, and has received mixed reviews due to the quartet's insistence on moving further and further away from the flowing ambient style found on their debut, Yesterday was Dramatic, Today Is OK. And oh yeah, the addition of fucking weird vocals didn't help, either. In Pitchfork's review of the album, Nick Sylvester went as far as to say, "...there simply aren't enough exciting or even vaguely interesting moments in each song, and between this scarcity and, Jesus, that voice, Summer Make Good seems an unfortunate addition to 2004's disappointments." Which sort of begs the question of why an expensive special edition, but what the hell-- everyone has fans, right? I hear some people like Jet.

The band is also preparing for the release of Dusty Log, a new EP featuring the album track "Will the Summer Make Good for All Our Sins?", along with three brand new songs. Dusty Log will be available on 10-inch vinyl and those annoying little 3-inch CDs in July. And finally, Múm are heading to these American shores for the summer, and should be playing at a smallish club near you in June or July. Joints:
