Pixies to Release London Shows on 2xCD
Joey Santiago to remove facepaint in 2015 for Pixies Symphony: Alive IV

It's been nearly a year since Pitchfork reported that the Pixies were considering a reunion. Who would have guessed that it would come to such explosive fruition, and that Pitchfork would spend the next 11 months (and counting) in a tizzy of Pixies minutiae-obsessing like some kind of indie rock Drudge Report? Everyone? Well, touché. Anyway, since then, I've read, said, or written the word "Pixies" with such frequency that it threatens to lose all literal sense, the object vanishing behind the glottal stops and glides that designate it: Pixies. Pix-ies. Picksies. Picks ease.

So, although this latest tidbit could very well be my undoing, the one that un-tethers me from the English language and plunges my future news stories into some sort of disassociated Gertrude Stein Tender Buttons L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E poetry, it is my duty to report that the Pixies will be releasing four upcoming London shows on limited edition CDs. DiscLive.com has issued a series of similar discs for the first leg of the Pixies' North American tour-- all of which have since sold out-- and now, in partnership with NetBurn, the company is planning to make available four shows at Brixton Academy in London (June 2-5).

Each concert will be released in its entirety on a limited-edition double CD. 1,500 copies will be pressed, each, as always, with its own unique artwork. The discs are already available for pre-order from DiscLive for $25 each, or a discounted rate of $90 for all four. Which begs the question: Why do official bootlegs cost the same as the illegal ones? Just wondering is all.
